I have this species by chance - I saw they had them at the wholesaler - Imazo.se and ordered a them via one of my local petshops in Oslo

This species is endemic to Mexico and is vulnerable in the wild.

I don't know the backstory of where they come from into the trade, but I doubt they are wild caught as wild caught fish are often (always?) labelled as such when they reach the wholesalers "over here" in Scandinavia.

I have only had them a few weeks, and changed them from a tank with no water movement and with a heater to an unheated tank with a filter adding a lively current and they really seem to prefer that environment.

I currently have 2 pairs, and the female in this pic seems pregnant, so hopefully she will drop a few fry soon :)
